DEMAND U.S. FCC & CONGRESS EXPAND BROADBAND AND LIFELINE ACCESS DURING COVID-19 CRISIS

Fact: 22 percent of households nationwide don't have home internet, including more than 4 million households with school-age children. Low-income families and people of color are particularly affected, leaving our most vulnerable communities struggling to stay connected with school, work, healthcare, and other opportunities during this crisis.
To make matters worse, over 10 million Americans and counting have lost their jobs due to the pandemic, and may not be able to pay their internet bill.
During a time when communication tools have never been so critical, and unemployment claims have never been so high, the U.S. government must step up to make internet and telephone services affordable for those who need it most through programs like Lifeline. These communities need to be able to access education, work, and critical medical care online as much as anyone else. The health of the nation is dependent on sick people using telehealth where possible at home to flatten the curve.
This disparity in access to essential communication tools is a deplorable failure to protect the fundamental rights and health of people in the U.S. But, together, we can change that.
Join us in demanding that FCC Chairman Ajit Pai and Congressional leadership expand broadband and phone access for those who need it most. All residents have a right to internet and phone service, especially during this unprecedented crisis.

Dear FCC Chairman Pai and Congressional leadership:

As U.S. voters and concerned citizens of the global community, we urge you to immediately expand broadband and telephone access in response to the public health crisis. Millions of people in the United States must stay home in order to limit the spread of COVID-19, and without internet and telephone access, communities at risk who were already struggling economically will be hit the hardest by the national emergency. It is up to you to ensure that everyone can afford critical communication services during the devastating pandemic.
