Call on U.S. senators to defend Net Neutrality

UPDATE: The U.S. Senate is expected to vote on Net Neutrality on Wednesday, May 16th. Act now to tell your senators to defend the open internet!

Last December, despite putting up a tough fight, we lost a vote in the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) that would essentially revoke all Net Neutrality protections in the United States. But a lot has happened, and we may still be able to protect Net Neutrality!

Senators have introduced a resolution under the Congressional Review Act, or CRA, which allows Congress to overturn regulatory decisions made at agencies like the FCC. It’s almost never been used, but it shows how important Net Neutrality is that senators are willing to use it now to overturn the FCC’s repeal of Net Neutrality protections.

ifty senators have already said they will vote to overturn the FCC’s decision. That is enough to guarantee a vote on the resolution this Wednesday!

Take action today to urge uncommitted senators to vote YES on saving Net Neutrality, and to say thanks to those who have already promised to support the resolution.

This is pretty exciting, but we want to be honest here. Even if we win this vote in the Senate, we still face a pretty tough landscape in the House. And even then, President Trump could veto the CRA resolution.

This is going to be a tough path forward, but it’s a path we must forge together. The internet is just too important to lose, and an attack on the free and open internet in one country impacts the human rights of people around the globe. We have to keep fighting, and we have to show these lawmakers that we won’t give up.
