Is my donation in U.S. dollars (USD), Pound Sterling (GBP), or Euros (EUR)? Can I donate in a different currency?

Depending on the payment option you select, your transaction will likely be processed in USD, GBP, or EUR. You can choose your preferred currency from the available options in the payment form. We also accept PayPal donations in most currencies. To use this option, choose PayPal in the form above, visit our PayPal donation page, or search our username (Access Now, matched exactly) to donate to us on PayPal. If you would like to donate via check in any currency, contact [email protected] for mailing details. If you use another method, your payment will be processed in USD, and you may face additional fees or exchange rate charges.

Is this donation tax deductible?

Access Now is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization, meaning that your donation is tax deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law. To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. tax return, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record. We'll send it to you upon successful completion of your donation. Donations made from other jurisdictions are not tax deductible at this time.

What work does my donation support?

In line with our organizational mission of extending and defending the digital rights of people and communities at risk around the world, your donation will enable a range of workstreams.

  • Our Digital Security Helpline provides civil society groups and activists, media organizations, journalists, bloggers, and human rights defenders with free, 24/7 technical assistance and advice in 10 languages.
  • Our Grants program funds grassroots and frontline organizations working with people and communities most impacted by digital rights violations.
  • At RightsCon, the world’s leading summit on human rights in the digital age, we convene business leaders, policymakers, technologists, lawyers, academics, journalists, and human rights advocates to tackle pressing issues at the intersection of human rights and technology.
  • Through our campaigns work, we educate, petition, and appeal to decision makers, mobilizing partners to pressure the powerful to respect human rights, online and off:
    • The #KeepItOn coalition brings together hundreds of civil society organizations and global allies to fight for an end to internet shutdowns.
    • As part of the #ProtectNotSurveil coalition, we work to end the use of surveillance technology against migrant and racialized people, respectively.
  • Our wider programmatic work encompasses advocating for digital rights in the context of conflict, crisis, and humanitarian response, defending against abusive spyware technologies and attacks on encryption, and pushing for human rights-based approaches to regulating online content and emerging technologies such as generative AI — among other areas.
  • Other teams, including legal, communications, development, finance, and operations colleagues, work to ensure that we have the right people, processes, tools, and resources to deliver on our mission.

Can I donate to support a specific area of Access Now's work?

We do not currently have the ability to direct your donation to a specific digital rights campaign or area of focus. Your unrestricted support allows us to respond effectively to emerging digital rights threats and to direct resources where they are most needed.
